Nintendo and Microsoft are leading the cross-play revolution on consoles, but it’s Sony’s decision to remain out of this multi-platform party that has gained the most column inches of late. While the debate on this matter rages on, Nintendo has issued a timely trailer to promote cross-play on the ever-popular Minecraft. Switch and Xbox One owners can happily play against one another in the game, and it’minecraft give codes hard not to take the end of the video — which shows Xbox green alongside Switch red — as a little dig at Sony’s stubbornness.

Should have had a kid come in wearing blue with a dualshock saying «can I play? Indeed, without the context of Sony’s policy, there would have been no reason to demonstrate different console ecosystems coming together when you’re advertising cross-platform play. I did chuckle when both Microsoft and Nintendo throw shade at Sony that involved Fortnite, but this seems far fetched on taking shots on them. Calling it a shot against Sony is a stretch, but not implausible so whatever.
